The Mission.... 6000 delights!

Okay, as Neighbours celebrates 6000 episodes this year and a mighty 25 years on screen, I thought it would be pretty fab if we could create a list of our top 6000 things we love about Neighbours.

It could be a character, a saying, a favourite moment, or episode, or even a dish from Harold's Store.  This is a chance to share your favourite Neighbs moments and indulge in others delights, however random they might be.

So I'm putting it to you, you Ramsay Street lovers to comment on this blog as many times as you like and help build the list of loves.  Title your comment with your chosen love and then put a little explanation underneath about it.

It's just a bit of fun and a challenge to see if we can get to 6000 comments!  So post away and suggest it to all your friends and followers.

  1. 1. Lyn Scully

The underdog! With Susan Kennedy ruling the roost on Ramsay Street the legend of Mrs Scully is often forgotten. But I think she oozes with warmth and humour and could really have slotted in back in the 80's. She's had many transformations, from ditzy hairdresser through the Catholic buttoned up blouse version, into the bolshy business Mrs Robinson and then back to the ditz again. Lyn Scully is a legend.

  2. 2. Kerry Mangle's Death

This could arguably be the most saddest episode of Neighbours I have ever seen. I was only 9 at the time but I remember being absolutely devastated at poor Joe losing his beloved wife. Yes it was a bit mental her being mistaken by a duck. But I defy anyone not to shed a tear at that episode.

  3. Amelia Frid as Cody Willis. Heaven is indeed a place on Earth.

  4. 4. Dahl the galaar

Good old Dahl seems to have lasted longer than most Ramsay Street pets and the Kennedy house would not be the same without him rocking on the edge of their sofa!

  5. 5. Scott and Charlene's wedding

An obvious one, but Neighbours was really at the very top of its game. 20 million viewers and Angry Anderson as we watched our favourite couple tie the knot.

  6. 5. Oodles Of Noodles

Ned + Karl = the poor man's Wiggles. Cheesy awesome fun, and who could forget the classic "Ant Rap" and "Ooey Gooey Sticky Stuff"?

  7. Rosemary - The Ultimate returnee

Good old Rosemary is like a boomerang. Her little cameo moments are a nostalgic treat to us old timers! Long may Rosemary Daniels continue her bouncing back and forth!

  8. 8. Priest Defrocking

The passionate love affair between Susan and Father Tom.

  9. Melanie's laugh!

Who could forget the echoing, booming guffaw of Melanie Pearson's laugh.

  10. 90 - 94 were my favorite seasons. Especially the strong production standards of 92 - 94.

  11. Susan confronts Karl about his affair with Izzy.

The scene prooves just what an amazing actress Jackie Woodburne is!

  13. 13 Paul Robinson returns

An epic charcter returns in the midst of devastation and fire. Truly the best.

  14. 13 Harold getting into bed with Mrs Mangel - and Joe threatening to knock his block off for it!

  15. Libby and Steph's coyote ugly

When Steph and libby had a little jaunt up to the country to pack up libby's stuff after her split from dirty Darren, it was that drunken dance on the bar that reminded me what a classic double act these two are. It's rare that you get such a strong bond between two characters. Plus it was hysterical to see drunk neighbours which only tends to happen when something dodge is about to happen.

  16. Rosie and Fraser

A couple who just seemed to have that spark. Both were really great actors and they seemed like they belonged together. Considering their Ramsay st stint was only a short one I believe these two are neighbours classics!

  17. I agree to this one:

Ruthless Paul Robinson return back in 2004. It was an epic character returns in the midst of devastation and fire. Truly the best.

  18. Donna's Anne Summers Party

Susan in the PVC outfit. I've never laughed so much in my life!

  19. Sarah the Scandalous Secretary!

I reckon Sarah's smooch with Karl launched the Kennedy's into the forefront of Neighbours. Forget Izzy, Sarah was the most scandalous!

  20. All the Neighbours stalwarts. The Kennedys, Lyn, Toadie and Lou.

  21. One of my earliest favourite moments was the 2000 finale when the Scully's house went on fire and Lolly was still inside. I just remember loving the drama when they were moving all of the tables off the street so the fire engines could get through.

Of course the 2004 finale was amazing too with all of Lassiter's going up in flames.

Overall most memorable moment is probably Madge dying - I cried like a baby when I saw that and did the same whenever I've watched it back on YouTube!

I've stopped watching it now, but I think I might get back into it for the 6,000 episode stuff. I used to just enjoy having it on in the background and laughing at all of the silly bits in it. You've got to love Neighbours for that! :-D

  22. Lou's Russian Bride - MISHKA!!!!!!

Even the most hardcore Neighbours fans know that from time to time Neighb's can get a bit too silly, so the prospect of Lou ordering a Russian Bride was one of those groan moments. But when it actually happened Neighb's cam up trumps. Mishka was an original, comic, full of life character who charmed her way into the hearts of all Neighb's fans and gave the underused Lou a spark of life back. Brigh back Mishka I say :-)

    Lou bear needs his Mishka!

  23. Bertha!

The famous car that Charlene and Scott rode off into the sunset with on their honeymoon. A classic car if ever I saw one :-)

  24. The Timmins family were Neighbours legends. Their brief time in the street between 2005 and 2007 will never be forgotten.

  25. Madge's death.

Such a heartbreaking scene with Harold, Tad and Paul there with her until she died. It was one of the few times I have cried at TV.

  26. 1.Henry getting caught outside Bronwyn's house without a towel and being spotted in the bushes by Dorothy Burke.

    2. When Joe Mangle returned and Dylan came over to see Sky dressed as a red indian, he said something about the village people are looking for you, legend!!

  27. The death of Daphne Clarke -who can forget those final last words 'I love you too Clarkey'

  28. Steph and flicks wedding day scrap

Steph being jilted at the alter followed by the confrontation with flick in the middle of the street was almost like an ep of eastenders. Dramatic as he'll

  29. The Day Helen Daniels Died :(

The sad episode that saw Helen pass away while sat on the sofa with Hannah holding her hand!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Tye's "It's Christmas"

Probably the cheesiest thing EVER on Neighbours but I can still remember every word of it ha ha. Should be up there with Cliff and Slade!

  31. The 80s. Paul & Gail, Scott & Charlene, Madge & Harold, Hilary, Eileen, Des & Daphne.....I could go on. Neighbours at it's best and I don't believe it's ever manages to create the community spirit that it had back then.

  32. The plane crash

Neighbours isnt reknown for its major stunts, but this sticks out as a very memorable one! Think it was the last time that the series had characters that I really cared about.(The Timmins/The Bishops/Izzy/Sky... ) A classic week of Neighbours episodes - just hope the 6000th can match up to it!

  33. Eileen Clarke

Des Clarkes mum - and all time legend of the mother/mother in law from hell! So sad that the actress (Myra de Groot I think) passed away suddenly. The character has so much milage as could be interferring/caring/laugh out loud funny all in 1 scene. An all time classic character

  34. Charlene & Jane discover who hit Daphnes car - remember them crouched down beside the car trying to work out if they should let the tyres down or not

    ReplyDelete
  35. Auntie Valda

Probably my favourite part timer. She always brings a smile to every scene she's in. Plus as well as providing giggles she also proved her weight in those beautiful scenes where Lynnie discovered she was her real mother.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Todd and Cody - no offence, Scott & Charlene fans (or anyone else's fans for that matter), but T&C were the best ever teen couple for me, and the only one I ever truly invested in and cared about.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Rosie and Fraser. All of it.
From the moment they arrived to the moment they left. And also Rebecca, she's become one of my favourite characters of all time. Jane Hall is amazing.

  38. Dastardly Darcy

After a few years of the more quiet aspects of neighbourly life Ramsay streets young doc changed everything and got hooked on gambling, robbed DEe and the kennedys and almost caused Lyn to lose the baby. The dcaene where he knocked her over on the kennedys back door was one of the best scenes in years!

  39. Scott and Jane's illicit kiss.

Such a brilliant and unexpected plot twist, and one that totally fitted in with everything that had gone beforehand. I remember wondering how long the producers had been plotting it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Paul opening the door to Oliver and Oliver singing the Stefan Dennis hit quietly to himself, unscripted of course! And I've loved all the Susan and Karl scenes forever.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The Alessi twins

Both were two lovable characters who fell for old Paul. Christina was the ditzy, friendly one whereas Caroline was the bolshy yet vulnerable one. Poor christina though being landed with a son like Andrew.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bridget and Declan

Bridget and Declan had the most amazing chemistry! I loved every minute of them together! Their wedding was gorgeous and so is India! I was devasted when Bridget died but their memory will always live on!

  43. Charlie Hoyland's Birth

Moving moment after everything Steph had been through. Was really gripped by that storyline and felt relieved when he was born.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Brad, Beth and Lauren

this was one of the first big neighbours love triangles with bead falling for his fiancé's best mate. Everyone was team beth but I always had a soft spot for poor lauren.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Dorothy Burke

Dorothy at first was this bug scary headmistress who blossomed into this comedic, wise and odd yet adorable matriach. One of neighbours finest without a doubt!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Kate Ramsay...a wonderful character brought to life by the very talented Ashleigh Brewer...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sindi Watts is one of the best ever Neighbours characters. She brought so much warmth to the show during 2004.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Gino

Lyn's boss at the hairdressers! Pure comedy gold.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Doug Willis - most laidback, best dad ever!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Bronwyn and henry

always in the background to charlene and Scott but this couple had such a touching sweetness to them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sindi

Deffo agree with Sindi. She was a breath if fresh air. Loved her crazy comic moments.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Izzy.

Everybody loves a bad girl. When she arrived, all the men loved her and all the women hated her. She really stirred things up in Ramsay Street.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Bad Harold.

After Harold suffered a minor stroke, he became rude, bad tempered and selfish. My favourite part was when he was getting cosy with Izzy and she asked him if he was copping a feel.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dastardly Darcy.

My favourite dastardly act was when he was dating housemates Dee and Tess at the same time. What a bad boy.

  55. Those 1980s days when Helen got her sewing box out and had a good natter with Madge, Eileen tried to sing, Scott married Charlene and Mrs Mangel gossiped for Aus!
